This past weekend we hosted two drastically different birthdays, an enchanted forest and a Mexican Fiesta! We had such fun planning and preparing, we made all the decorations ourselves and thought it would be great to share in case you are feeling so inclined to host your very own Fiesta Forest! The Enchanted Forest We found this great tree at DeSerres and it only took about 5 minutes to assemble. We hung the tree on the “birthday wall” and decorated around it using tissue paper butterflies and our birthday banner. To make the tissue paper flowers we found some great instructions on Pink Paper Peppermints. We then used kraft paper to make another tree, we decorated the tree with butterflies and mushrooms. The butterflies were made out of tissue paper and the mushrooms out of Bristol board. For the craft we made Modeling chocolate the night before. When the kiddies arrived it was all ready to go and they made beautiful creatures. We also used water colour pencil crayons on canvas boards to paint backdrop …
A very special little boy we know turned 1 recently and we decided to make these cute little cupcakes for him. There were so many Sesame street characters to choose from but personally I really like these three in particular. In order to make these delicious cupcakes, first pick a recipe and make 12 cupcakes, I used chocolate as you can never go wrong with chocolate cupcakes, simple yet yummy! Here’s a list of the other supplies you’ll need: Wilton Tips: #3 (for black icing) #17 (for yellow icing) #233 (for blue and green icing) Icing Gels: Golden Yellow, Sky Blue, Moss Green and Black Food Paintbrush Water Marshmallows (8 mini ones or 4 regular size ones) 1 batch of Royal Icing (divided into 3 bowls plus some extra leftover) Fondant: red, brown and pink (about the size of a golf ball of each) To make the right colours I used Wilton Icing Gels. I used Moss Green, Sky Blue and Golden Yellow. For Cookie Monster and Oscar I used the Wilton Icing Tip #233 …
This past Sunday we had the pleasure of hosting a fabulous birthday party for a very special little girl! The theme was an “Ice Cream Shoppe” and we had so much fun coming up with creative ideas. The guests got to make Ice Cream Cone Necklaces out of Scupley and Beads. Then in the kitchen we made mini cupcakes which we iced and then put into cones. Here’s a great recipe for mini cupcakes. Once they’ve cooled down we used royal icing and sprinkles to decorate them and then just simply placed the cupcakes into the cones. The party ended with a grand feast of Ice Cream Cake (no real ice cream was used in the making of the cake)! The cake was made from “traditional birthday cake” recipe and then iced with buttercream icing. We used two separate pans for the cake and once baked we cut each cake into two and filled them with buttercream icing. So really, the cake was made up for 4 layers altogether. We used fondant in various colours …
We hosted another fantastic Star Wars Party this weekend. The children made Darth Vader puppets and decorated cupcakes! Lots of fun was had by all, including us!
On Sunday we hosted a 9 year old girl’s hockey themed birthday party. The children made their own mini sticks and also got to bake and decorate cupcakes in the kitchen. It was lots of fun all round!
On Sunday we hosted another birthday party, our birthday girl picked fairies as her theme! The kids made fairy puppets and bumblebee cupcakes. We served snacks, including donut cookies! Check out some of the pictures from our fabulous and fun, fairy birthday!
On Saturday we hosted a Nature themed birthday party. It was lots of fun! The children made Bird Nest Boxes and decorated cupcakes with fondant leaves on them. The birthday girl also had a special cake and loot bags made for her by Seasons.
On Sunday we hosted an Oscar themed Birthday Party and it was lots of fun. We had set up a photo-shoot in the Seasons Studio for the children, they were able to pick an “Oscar” dress and also get their hair and make-up done. Then they posed with an “Oscar” (a beautiful paper rendition) and we photographed them on the “red carpet”.
Our Star Wars Party was a huge success! The family was very happy with the outcome. The children made Yoda Puppets and also decorated cupcakes.
Can you guess what theme the birthday party we’re hosting on Sunday is???
